Career Opportunity – Public Works Utility Worker

The City of Enderby is seeking a motivated and reliable person to join its Public Works team.  If you have prior heavy equipment or public works experience, a versatile skill set, and a desire to learn new things, this is the perfect opportunity for you to take your career to the next level!

The successful candidate excels as part of a small team with diverse and demanding responsibilities that are essential to keeping our community running.  From snow plowing and road maintenance to water, sewer, drainage, and cemetery, no one day is quite like the other!

The Requirements

  • Ability to work in a professional and safe manner at all times.
  • Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting, shovelling, and climbing.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities, including an attention to detail while applying practical and technical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as a capacity to learn new things, including water and sewer utility operation.
  • Once trained, participate in rotating on-call duties, including weekend work, approximately every 4 to 5 weeks. Must live near to the community in order to respond.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A Class 5 BC Driver’s License with air endorsement.  Class 3 is beneficial.
  • Prior public works or heavy equipment experience is preferred.

The wage rate for Public Works Utility Worker I is $32.03.
