The City of Enderby delivers its building inspection through a contract with the Regional District of the North Okanagan.

You can contact the RDNO office at 250-550-3700 to speak with a Building Inspector. They are generally available until 9:30am.
Booking an Inspection
Building Inspectors are available daily for inspections. When booking an inspection, please allow a minimum of two working days prior to the date of inspection. Regular inspections are generally conducted in the late morning and afternoon.

The BC Energy Step Code is a provincial standard for achieving more energy-efficient buildings. It does so by establishing performance-based energy-efficiency requirements for construction, which are being phased in through incremental “steps”.
Newly constructed buildings falling within Part 9 of the BC Building Code (“simple buildings” such as single-family dwellings, duplexes, small apartment buildings, small commercial buildings with stores or offices, and small industrial shops) must be built in accordance with Step 3 of the BC Energy Step Code as of May 1, 2023 in accordance with amendments to the BC Building Code. Step 3 requires most new construction to be 20% more energy efficient than the base 2018 BC Building Code.

Accessibility
The Building Accessibility Handbook 2020 is available from the Province. The renewed handbook reflects the British Columbia Building Code 2018 accessibility requirements. The handbook provides explanatory text and illustrations to support Code users to better understand and apply the complex Code requirements to make buildings more accessible.
An alternative solution uses materials, appliances, systems, equipment, methods of design and construction and/or processes not specifically described in the BC Building Code or which vary from the specific requirements of the BC Building Code.
An alternative solution must meet strict requirements to demonstrate its suitability and achieve the minimum level of performance required by the BC Building Code.
