Consistent with the Kamloops Fire Centre and other communities in the area, the prohibition on campfires is lifted effective at noon on June 16, 2023 due to the current and forecast decline in the fire danger rating.
The following remain prohibited:
- open burning (all);
- fireworks;
- sky lanterns;
- burn barrels or burn cages;
- binary exploding targets;
- tiki and similar kinds of torches;
- chimineas; and
- air curtain burners.
Outdoor stoves continue to be permitted, provided they are a CSA-rated or ULC-rated device used outdoors for cooking, heat or ambiance that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel, and has a flame height that is less than 15 cm tall.
If you choose to have a campfire, please ensure that a responsible person is in charge at all times, it is fully extinguished before you leave the area, adequate water and a hand tool is kept nearby for fire suppression, and a fuel break is created around the perimeter of the campfire that is free of combustibles.
Within the City of Enderby, there are additional regulations on campfires and similar activities that must be followed even after the campfire ban ends. Please visit our Open Burning and Campfire Regulations page for all of the details.
This prohibition is in effect until the Kamloops Fire Centre rescinds its ban, unless notice is provided otherwise.
