The City of Enderby is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Facility Maintenance Worker for its Parks and Recreation team.
This job involves operating and maintaining the ice refrigeration plant, maintaining and cleaning the facility, conditioning the ice, interacting with users and the general public, and ensuring the safety of facility occupants. Evening and weekend shifts are required. In the off-season, duties involve maintaining facility grounds at various City properties and operating the Enderby Lions Pool. Shifts will typically be during the weekday, but weekend or evening shifts may be required.
The ability to work safely, with others and around the public, is required. The ability to perform physical labour, including lifting and shovelling, is required.
The successful candidates will have completed Grade 12 or equivalent and have a minimum of three years experience working in an arena environment operating refrigeration systems. The successful candidates will possess excellent problem-solving abilities, an attention to detail, a strong work ethic, the ability to multi-task and work under pressure, and strong written and verbal communication skills. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and criminal record check are required. Candidates must have one of the following certifications: Refrigeration Operator or Power Engineer 4.
This position may be cross-trained to work in the Public Works Department as needed.
Per the collective agreement, the wage rate is $33.42 and includes a competitive benefits and pension package as well as certification premiums and opportunities for growth and advancement.
