The prohibition on Category 3 Open Burning within the City of Enderby and Shuswap River Fire Protection District will be lifted effective at noon on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Category 3 Open Burning refers to an open fire that burns:
- Material concurrently in 3 or more piles each not exceeding 2 metres in height and 3 metres in width;
- Material in one or more piles each exceeding 2 metres in height or 3 metres in width;
- One or more windrows, none of which exceed 200 metres in length or 15 metres in width;
- Stubble or grass over an area exceeding 0.2 hectares.
This is consistent with the approach of the Kamloops Fire Centre, which regulates those areas not protected by a fire department.
Within the City of Enderby, there are additional regulations on campfires and open burning that must be followed. Please visit the City’s Open Burning and Campfire Regulations page for further information.
