The City of Enderby encourages its residents on September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, to think deeply about the victims and survivors of the residential school system, and to hear, support, and understand those who continue to live with the trauma.
This chapter of our past must not be ignored or forgotten. We must recognize that the traumatic impacts of the residential school system persist to this day.
Reconciliation is a journey in which we all have a part to play. May we all find ways to listen, to dialogue, and to act in pursuit of truth, dignity, and, ultimately, reconciliation.
Our sympathies are extended to the victims and survivors of the residential school system, and those who provide support to survivors or are themselves living with trauma.
