UPDATE – On June 15, 2017, the High Streamflow Advisory for the Shuswap River ended. As waters recede, the City of Enderby’s Emergency Operations Centre will shift from response to recovery.
On June 1, 2017, the City of Enderby activated a Level 1 Emergency Operations Centre due to flood risk associated with the rising levels of the Shuswap River. River forecasts show the river continuing to rise over the course of this week.
The City of Enderby reminds residents that free sand and sandbags are provided outside of the Public Works Yard at 4308 McGowan Street. Please bring your own shovel, just in case the one that is normally there has been removed.
Private property owners are responsible for protecting their property against flooding. Please take precautions to protect your property early. Remember, your neighbours are often facing the same threat, so be sure to invite them to help out – it’s faster to make sandbags as a team!
Also, in order to reduce waves, respect those who are suffering through flooding, and enable emergency vehicles and volunteers to gain access, please do not drive through flooded residential areas unless you live there or are assisting in the flood response.
