The City of Enderby desires to form a municipal corporation for the purposes of economic development, including developing non-tax revenue streams and developing affordable and attainable housing.
The creation of a municipal corporation will enhance the ability of the City of Enderby to harness the business acumen and experience of community leaders for the purpose of promoting economic development within the City, while also developing non-tax revenue streams in a way that protects the City from financial and legal liability in relation to economic development initiatives.
The City of Enderby is proposed to be the sole shareholder in the municipal corporation. Enderby City Council will have the authority to appoint all directors for the municipal corporation.
The City anticipates that, at the outset, it will have no significant financial exposure for the municipal corporation other than usual legal and set-up costs. The City may make additional financial commitments, subject to the requirements of the Community Charter.
Any resident of the City of Enderby or other person may make representations on this matter through a written submission to the attention of the Corporate Officer, City of Enderby, P.O. Box 400, Enderby, BC V0E 1V0 by Monday, June 17, 2019 at 3:00pm or may otherwise make a representation before Council at the regular meeting on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 4:30pm.
