The City of Enderby thanks its residents and businesses for practicing physical distancing while keeping socially connected. Every individual action adds up to a collective impact that will help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Our thanks go out to all of the essential service workers who put themselves on the line for the greater good – including healthcare workers, transportation workers, emergency responders, social service providers, retail workers (and many others!). What you do is vital and appreciated.
The City of Enderby Emergency Operations Centre remains activated at Level 1. For updates to our response, please bookmark our “Emergency Dashboard” at www.cityofenderby.com/emergency.
One of the main tasks right now involve implementation of several ministerial orders from the Province.
One of these orders involves getting bylaw enforcement officers to monitor, provide information and report to health officers on potential infractions of a Public Health Order. Public Health Orders can be issued by a health officer such as Dr. Bonnie Henry, and have the force of law. We do not have the ability to enforce if there is an infraction, but we can make a referral to a health officer who is authorized to take enforcement action if they feel that it is the appropriate method to get compliance. The Public Health Orders are listed here.
Another task involves advance planning to prepare for both a deteriorating situation (which we hope will not happen, but we must prepare!) as well as to prepare for multiple emergencies occurring simultaneously, such as flooding at the same time as a pandemic. We have contingency plans in place to continue to provide essential services and are fine-tuning these as the situation evolves.
Our facilities remain closed to the public, including City Hall. However, we still have staff available to assist you remotely during our regular hours of operation (as well as after-hours on-call services for Public Works emergencies). Please email info@cityofenderby.com or call 250-838-7230.
Our trails and parks (except for play structures) remain open. Please use these areas consistent with physical distancing recommendations by maintaining 2 meters of distance between you and others. The outdoors always brings fresh air and smiles, which are great ways to ease the mind and relax the body.
While service levels are impacted by resources prioritized to the Emergency Operations Centre and additional measures necessary for the health and safety of workers and the public, services like street sweeping, pruning pick-up, and street line painting are continuing along with our day-to-day and seasonal tasks.
If you are a business that supplies, or could supply, essential goods and services, please visit the Province’s Supply Hub to view the priority products and submit an offer.
The Province has provided this List of Supports for residents. Download it to learn about the initiatives that are in place to help.
Community Futures of North Okanagan is spearheading #NOKtogether to support local businesses. This business hub brings together people and resources throughout the region and is supported by local governments, business associations, and post-secondary institutions.
