The City of Enderby’s Emergency Operations Centre remains activated at Level 1 for wildfire advance planning and quick mobilization of emergency plan procedures and resources.
The Province has issued a travel warning for part of the Interior Region, which includes the City of Enderby. This is due to a wildfire situation that is projected to worsen over the weekend. The Province is asking people to not travel to parts of the Interior Region until further notice.
Increased fire activity in the area is forecasted over the weekend, including significant winds that will move fires quickly due to the nature of the terrain.
The City of Enderby strongly urges residents to prepare in advance, in case you need to leave quickly. Create your grab-and-go bag, if you have not already done so. Make sure that you have a household preparation plan. If you have pets, make sure that they are ready to leave quickly, too. There are links on our Emergency Management page to guides that can help you prepare – bookmark www.cityofenderby.com/emergency so that you can easily return to the link at any time!
If you have questions about evacuations – what you can expect and what you can do to help – please read this page.
Our appreciation is extended to firefighters who are protecting us or standing at the ready to respond. Our sympathy is offered to those who are suffering through the devastating effects of these wildfires.
Stay safe, stay strong, share facts rather than speculation, look out for your neighbours, and prepare in advance.
